If I were to ask you what does it mean to be ‘saved’, what thoughts jump into your mind? I think for most, it would mean being saved from going to hell, or what some Christian’s claim as ‘fire insurance’. Jesus was crucified on the cross to make atonement for our sins, that we would be saved from the punishment of our sins, which is going to hell; or more accurately: eternal separation from God and His love. To me, that would seem to sum it up very well. What if I were to tell you it is so much MORE. Because, It is. Salvation is every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3). Not one, but every……one.
Ephesians 1:3 (NIV): Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
In fact, it seems that every conversation I have with an individual whose Christian life is just ‘not working’, the root of their problems always stems from not knowing what salvation means; not knowing what their true inheritance is from Christ, through grace, by the cross. If you were to combine the Hebrew word for ‘salvation’ (yĕshuw`ah) and the Greek word for ‘salvation’ (sōtēria), or if you were to combine the Greek word for ‘saved’ (sōzō) with the Greek word ‘sōtēria”, salvation means you are saved, healed, delivered, prospered, protected, preserved and victorious.
For example, we will take a look at four verses that all use the same Greek word, ‘sōzō’ (σῴζω), which means ‘save’ or ‘saved’.
Mark 5:28 (KJV): For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole (sōzō).
Luke 8:36 (KJV): They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed (sōzō).
John 3:17 (KJV): For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (sōzō).
2 Timothy 4:18 (KJV): And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve (sōzō) me unto his heavenly kingdom:
There are 7 inheritances that you get from being saved in Christ. Not just being saved from hell, but you inherit healing, deliverance, prosperity, protection, preservation (until judgment day which your seen perfectly through the blood of Christ), and victory. This means that just as much of a guarantee of not going to hell through Christ, you have the guarantee of healing, prosperity, protection, etc. When a Christian life is not working, it is because they have not claimed at least one of these inheritances, freely given to them through the blood of Christ. For example, if someone steals it is because they do not believe God has prospered them. If they live in fear, it is because they do not believe God has protected them. If someone believes they are not blameless or perfect in God’s sight and lives a life of condemnation, it is because they do not understand that are preserved pure through the blood of Christ. The inheritance of salvation consist of every spiritual blessings that God has given you through His son, Jesus Christ. You may say, yeah, but they are spiritual! Well, yes they are, but they are meant to be used in the natural. Just like spiritual giftings are meant to be used in the natural, such as the gift of healing, prophecy, discernment, etc., your spiritual blessings or inheritances are meant to be used in this earthly realm as well. These spiritual blessings are how God manifests His glory. That is what the glory of God means, it is the spiritual presence of God manifesting in an observable, tangible way in this present, earthly, natural realm. How else are we like Jesus, here on this earth (1 John 4:17)? That is right, YOU are like Jesus, in the present, here and now. In fact, these inheritances that we have freely received are what we are to give unto the world:
Matthew 10:6-8 (NIV): 6but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.”
When you bring salvation to the lost, as we are instructed to do through the Great Commission, you bring them salvation, healing, deliverance, prosperity, protection, preservation, and victory. But first, bring these inheritances into your life! Claim these inheritances. The greatest way to impact lives for Christ is through exemplifying God’s love through how you live everyday life. You have been freely given these blessings through the love of Christ! When you believe in them, you just watch them manifest in your life, and others take notice. Through these inheritances, through bringing them into everyday life by believing in them, is how we are to live on the high places of the earth, for we are not only to have life, but have it abundantly!
Isaiah 58:14 (KJV): Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth!
John 10:10 (KJV): The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
